Unusually it is also painted on the sides. The front of the piece is decorated with traditional scholarly objects. The bottom skirting is painted with delicate flowing floral designs. The sides have been painted with plants and Chinese script. The three doors open to reveal a large area with a single shelf. These cabinets were used by nomadic people for storage of
